K&D Log Homes has several products in addition to our manufactured log homes that are produced right here at our facilities. We manufacture several different sizes and species of Tongue & Groove. All of our Tongue & Groove log home siding is produced with a v-groove on the front side and a square edge on the back side. The v-groove side is used on walls and ceilings and the square edged side is used in flooring application.
Here at K & D Forest Products we kiln dry all of our 1x materials and heat treat them when needed. This means that all of our Tongue & Groove log home siding is dried to a maximum moisture content of 10% – 12%. This is important for the buyer to insure a reduction in shrinkage after installation. A suggested step before installing any Tongue & Groove siding is to put it inside your home slated and let it acclimate for one week before installation. log homes average between 4% – 7% moisture content, but it is difficult to get the wood moisture content that low. Taking this extra step insures the longevity and quality of your product.
As you view the page below you will find pictures of our different species. If you see a image the says Product Unavailable that mean we do not make the product in that species. Also be aware that the images you are viewing are of stained and/or sealed Tongue & Groove. You should also be aware the products come in different grades, for example; in the 1×4 Tongue & Groove section the Aspen image is a high grade. In aspen the high grade tends to have less color and is considered a clear wood. In the 1×6 Tongue & Groove section, the aspen image is a cabin grade (low grade). In aspen the cabin grade has much more color and character in the wood.
